Currently Covening

Nothing has ever made me want to pack my things, go to New Orleans and be a witch more than watching AHS Coven. Seriously, the show is awesome, 10/10, highly recommend. When watching TV, I have this weird habit of critiquing the show based on character's fashion choices (perhaps that explains my misunderstood obsession with Gossip Girl). Coven was no exception to this rule, and my God I am obsessed with it. Full disclosure, I'll be wearing black for the next year. 

Fiona Good

Fiona, even though you wear black in like every episode, you make it work with the different textures and accessories. Your cape dress and lace gloves make me want to go out and buy a cape dress and lace gloves. You are the Regina George of AHS. Kudos.

Misty Day

Oh, Misty. We don't share the same style choices, but I give you points for your obsession with Stevie Nicks (same) and your great hair texture. Also, your jewelry layering is on point. 10 points to Gryffindor. 

Madison Montgomery

Madison Montgomery, you are my queen and spirit animal. I love a sassy, stylish broad who isn't afraid to accessorize with a Joe Namath-style fur coat or Russian hat. From sequin shorts to turbins to 90's style chokers and ball gowns, you have GOT IT GOING ON GURL. #VoteMadisonForSupreme

Myrtle Snow

Myrtle, the fact that you have the balls to wear red clothes with crimped, carrot-colored hair gives you major fashion cred. And any witch whose last word is "Balenciaga" is a badass in my book. I like to think of you as Coven's own Andre Leon Talley. 

Less notable, but still dress better than half of TV characters today:

Zoe Benson

Zoe, I'm not even sure why you were allowed in the coven. You're basic as hell. You have one good hat and even that makes you look like Kane from Poltergeist. Bai. 

 Nan (?)

Nan, you always kind of look like Wednesday Addams. Which is cool, because you have that sweet/mean Sour Patch personality going for ya. You do you, girl. 

Cordelia Foxx

Even with your effed up eyes, you're still pretty fine. Although not very "witchy", I like your ladylike bows and midi skirts. 

Pantone's 2015 Color of the Year

If you're a fashion or design darling like me, you count down the days for the unveiling of Pantone's color of the year. And I have to say, this is the second year I've been disappointed with their choice (Read more about last year's radiant orchid catastrophe here). I mean, seriously, Pantone, you have every single color swatch at your disposal...and you choose...marsala. Ugh. Woof. No.

The fact that it's named after a pasta sauce should be inclination enough that it's terrible. This color looks like dried bodily fluid or a soccer mom's 1990's lipstick. Actually, I'm pretty sure we had a couch in this color when I was four (circa 1995). Essentially, this color is oxblood's ugly stepsister. Pantone, I can't even with you right now. But I will not shame the color bible -- so I have come up with some cute ways to wear marsala (other than on a shirt at an Italian restaurant). Behold...

Black Friday at Gus Mayer

On November 29th, AKA Black Friday, AKA every fashion girl's favorite holiday -- Gus Mayer will be unlocking the holy grail of sales. Halloween Round 1- Persephone

It's no secret that I take Halloween very seriously. My friends suggested that we all go as Greek gods and goddesses for a party, and I was assigned Persephone (Mythology CliffNotes: She's the queen of the underworld, wife to Hades, lover of pomegranates and general badass).

Note: I never do anything half-assed. Especially when it comes to Halloween. The picture above shows my makeup before I got into costume and did my hair. I'm including this because you can see the details better -- and how cool are my gold eyebrows? #JustSayin

We had so much fun, and the group's costumes really came together. I mean, we had a MINOTAUR in our group. A MINOTAUR, y'all. If you were wondering, we won the group costume contest. The only thing we were missing was someone fanning us with palm fronds and hand-feeding us grapes. Then again, there's always next year. ;)

Stripes and Pleats

When I walked into the apartment after work, my boyfriend saw my outfit and said, "Oh channeling the 1970's are we?". I wasn't really going for the hippie-chic vibe, but I'll take what I can get. After all, Stevie Nicks is one of my top 10 fashion icons and this skirt is totally something I could see her wearing. Despite my boyfriend's comment, I think that the stripes on this shirt keep the outfit modern and appropriate for daytime.

Revisiting an Old Favorite

Hollister was the place to go for jeans when I was in high school. I thought I had outgrown them, but after revisiting some of their newer styles, I was impressed by their fashion-forward approach.
